EIT GoGlobal 2018

EIT Health funded program to facilitate European Lifescience companies to access foreign healthcare markets

Europe is home to a high number of medtech companies. The majority of which employ fewer than 50 people. New companies may have difficulties to grow internationally due to the long and complicated processes when introducing new treatments while getting market authorization and making reimbursement decisions.

GoGlobal Med Tech Exchange Accelerator 2018 can help your company by providing the competence needed for growth and international expansion.

In the GoGlobal 2018 programs seven (7) international companies that want to enter the European healthare market and ten (10) European companies that want to accelerate their business outside of Europe participated in the program.

 

The program is dedicated to the three partner regions of Medical Valley:

 

 

 

Rio Grande da sul (Brazil)

Hong Kong (China)

Greater Boston area (USA)

 

 

 

 

The GoGlobal Program 2018 consists out of an inbound and an outbound part.


Inbound:

In a two days’ workshop at Erlangen (Germany) in April the hurdles in the European healthcare market for the international companies from Brazil, China and USA were discussed. Major topics especially in the workshops were the healthcare market itself, regulatory affairs, law aspects, how to get funding in Europe (privat & puplic) and how to get in touch with talents and experienced work forces. The Highlight was the joint pitch event together with the outbound teams and the visit of the MT-Connect fair.

The first preparation sessions for the European participants were held at the Medical Valley Center in Erlangen. It was therefore possible for the companies from the target region to learn from one another.
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Outbound:

Between Outbound Preparation and the mission to the target countries the companies will have the possibility to join webinars regarding  country specific questions by international experts to extend the contend of the workshop just before the outbound journey. From October 14th to 21st we visited New York and Boston. During the two days in New York, we had the chance to speak about regulatory aspects, branding, social media opportunities and had one-on-one meetings with investors. After participating in the October Investfest the group visited a famous hospital in Boston, several incubator programs and had one-on-one meeintgs with potential partners. From October 25th to November 2nd the Hong Kong China group had several pitching events, including the famous sky100 pitch event in HongKong. The group had pitchtrainings, regulatory aspects, Chinese market insights and law specific workshops. The mission to Brazil was split in two parts. One part visited the largest exhibition in South America : the Hospitalar in Sao Paolo in May. Due to new elections in Brazil the other part that should have left in November 2018 is now scheduled for February/March 2019 for clearer business environment. For this trip the companies will receive a travel fund of 1.750 Euro each.

The program was already implemented in 2017 with a huge satisfaction rate. Nine out of ten companies' expections were met. The participants recommended their contacts to use this program for accessing new markets.
