T-08: Clinical on-site and online anesthetic gas analysis and monitoring

Development of a sensor concept based on Raman spectroscopy for on-site and online anesthetic gas analysis and control

The goal of this project is to demonstrate the usefulness of a sensor concept based on Raman spectroscopy using test measurements at the hospital for anesthesiology in connection and in comparison with modern anesthesia equipment, and to draw up the advantages of the concept. The research activities envisaged in this project will be realized in close collaboration between ESYTEC GmbH - which designs measuring systems on a scientific basis, constructs them and, where appropriate, develops them until they are ready for serial production before putting them on the market - the Chair for Technical Thermodynamics at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg - which possesses outstanding, internationally recognized expertise in laser measuring technology - and the Chair for Anesthesiology at the University Hospital Erlangen - which provides the important medical expertise for this issue. The planned research work will therefore always be performed at the highest scientific level and the technical applicability, and possible future use of the results on the market, will be constantly considered during the investigations.
